Time's Up

| I have less than a week left. Half of me is moderately nonchalant about enlistment; the other half is indignant and sore. I don't see how it will be a life-changing experience as so widely-proclaimed. Whatever lies in front of me, I've been through perhaps even worse - long periods away from home alone, filthy living conditions, communal living, inept superiors/seniors, meaningless drills, tough physical trainings, even handling of firearms, and the list goes on. At best, or worst, it is effectively an assembly of all the bad parts of life. One redeeming factor I believe I can look forward to is living in a new environment. It is a chance to totally start anew - meeting new people who probably have never met before (hence eradicating the fear of existence of pre-formed cliques) and starting on the same level as everyone else. So maybe that's good. And well, perhaps analysing the SAF Act might serve as good preparation for an impending legal education? Nonetheless, even though my BMT will be a much toned-down one, pray for my safety. Labels: conscription |
